I am a resident of the city of Richmond. I want to have chicken in my yard and would like to know what I have to do to change the by-law to allow chicken in all lot size property.
thank you
If you are wanting to help change the Richmond Chicken Bylaw, you should go to this website: http://richmondfoodsecure.blogspot.com/.
There is a chicken class that we’ll be teaching there on July 4th, and you should contact Arzeena about working on the Bylaw.
The Vancouver City Council is looking at considering the bylaw change allowing backyard hens at its February 4, 2010 meeting (still tentative but probable). If you would like to see Council approve the bylaw change it would be a good idea to attend this meeting and be prepared to speak in support of the bylaw change.
I am wondering if anyone knows of the laws about having chickens in surrey and other cities near vancouver? Or where I could find that info. thanks

Hi am wondering if anyone knows an honest or good place to get laying hens besides craigslist. I am looking to get 3 brown hens. Thanx
If you are looking for chickens, you could always contact the Fraser Valley Poultry Fanciers – I went to their fall show last year, got a program, and it lists lots of breeders.
Most go beyond the “brown hen” though – purebreds, and they can be expensive.
I’m a local artist doing a series on animals and the people who live/work with them. I’m looking for someone who currently keeps chickens who would be willing to have me come and photograph and/or sketch them with their chickens. The final piece will be an artistic interpretation based on sketches and photos. Please email me if you are willing to participate! misskale@gmail.com
Thanks! Shannon
I want to get the bylaws changed in the District of North Van – we need to have chickens over here too! Any suggestions on how I should get that started?
Is anyone still enthused about getting chickens legalized on city sized lots in surrey.
I am living under the radar with my 4 chickens.. but if I can help anonymously I would love to see this restrictive rule changed !
If Vancouver can have chickens.. surely Surrey can !!
